Two essential components for our program are 1.) using a wiki for scheduling projects and 2.) teacher training on projects and the equipment.

1.) Identify a contact person that teachers are familiar/comfortable with to share VC opportunities directly with them versus a coordinator trying to reach out to individual teachers. 2) Set up pre-activity planning meetings over VC between teachers to review and discuss the details of the collaboration.

We see videoconferencing for learning for more than students. We are expanding how to use VC for professional development (district-wide training, modeling, and meetings).

We use blogs and podcasting to share all of the great programs available for classroom teachers. Using a FREE and public online aggregator called PageFlakes, we can make all of the blog entries and even our video podcast available from one webpage.

We use Google forms for registration on projects to minimize emails. We also scaffold projects (timelines, how to videos, checklists, supporting wikis or websites) so that teachers are supported and know what to expect.

The school level coordinator is critical--someone in the building that the teachers know and trust. We must support, encourage, and mentor that person. It is important to scale good ideas so more teachers participate.
