Small Group Work - Day 1

Introduction to Small Groups

Begin on page XX in the 123VC Participant Handbook. Detailed instructions for all of the following are in the handbook.

• First Get to Know Each Other

This is good practice at the beginning of every videoconference. Have each person introduce themselves. Include the following details:

• Name, School District, Location (City, State)
• Position (subject, grade level, etc.)
• Experience with VC (if any)
• Complete the following activity, “Every and Only” (page XX) with your small group which includes people at other locations.

• Videoconference Practice
  Everyone in your group should do ALL of the following tasks. (page XX)

• Place a call to another endpoint.
• Practice muting & unmuting the microphone.
• Change the volume.
• Set a camera preset.

• Day 1 Small Group Checklist

• Do you know the names of everyone in your group and where they are located?
• Do you know how to contact your group via email or Skype?
• Does anyone in the group know how to use Google Docs?

• Getting Started (as time allows)

• Assign roles as needed
• Begin discussing topic ideas
• Review Projects Booklet 
• Create and share a Google Doc to collect and refine your project ideas.
